REZ BIZ is published by an experienced team of managers, writers, editors, designers, seasoned journalists, and sales professionals. Members of the team operate from various locations across the Four-Corners area and in reservation border towns, so please check the contact information for each individual.

George Joe,
Publisher A member of the Native American Journalist Association and Society of Professional Journalist, George Joe has won numerous state and national awards for reporting, editing, publishing, graphic design, and public relations. George directs the overall editorial content of REZ BIZ and manages the business aspects of the publication as well. A member of the Navajo Nation, he speaks Navajo fluently and is seeking a master’s degree in English at Northern Arizona University. He also publishes TODAY in Southwest Hopi & Navajo. Barry Heifner, Managing Editor Barry has over 35 years experience in the news business working for a number of publications including 15 years at the Farmington Daily Times. Presently, he is managing editor for the Journal Advocate, a daily in Greeley, Colorado.

Ron Goulet, Art Director/ Associate Editor With a bachelor’s degree in journalism (photojournalism), Ron has worked in publishing, visual communicatins, writing, photography and design for 25 years. His work has been published in regional and national magazines. He designs for various clients in Flagstaff and throughout northeastern Arizona. Leslie Hoffman has a degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico and is an award-winning journalist for the Associated Press in Albuquerque. She now works for ACCION, a New Mexico nonprofit organization that increases access to business credit, makes loans and provides support to emerging small business owners.

Diana Heil has a degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico and has over has over 13 years experience. She has worked for the Farmington Daily Times, the Albuquerque Journal, and other publications. She now works for the Santa Fe New Mexican.

Kristen Davenport has a degree in journalism from the University of New Mexico and has over 13 years experience with the Gallup Independent, the Santa Fe New Mexican, and other publications.

Larry DiGiovanni has a master’s degree in journalism, and has over 15 years experience working for the Farmington Daily Times, the Gallup Independent, and other publications. Betsey Bruner has over 20 years experience and currently is an editor and reporter for the Arizona Daily Sun in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Legal Counsel:

Patterson V. Joe, Attorney In private practice since 1995, with offices in Flagstaff and Dilkon, Arizona, Patterson serves as legal counsel to REZ BIZ. Prior to starting a private practice, he worked for the Navajo Nation Department of Justice for ten years and rose to the position of Deputy Attorney General. His practice includes many areas of the law including Federal Indian law. He has a longstanding relationship with the Navajo Nation and understands the unique legal principles that govern Native American groups and individuals.
