He’s a senior at NAU, majoring in Applied Indigenous Studies and a minor in economic development and will be graduating in May.

He’s also the successful business owner of an entertainment conglomerate.

"4th World Entertainment is an independent record label that specializes in releasing music with substance, concert and artist promotion and regional CD distribution."

Yaiva is Diné and Hopi of the Reed Clan and born for the Eagle clan. His maternal parents are of the Coyote Pass People and his paternal grandparents are of the Bear Clan.

Yaiva cites more than 30 artists whose music has been recognized by winning Native American Music Awards and they are all on his label.

The artists on his label include: NAMMY winning R&B artist JayNez, Project X, DJ Young Native, Illumination, Mr. Meelo and himself.

"We do marketing for many artists that include Web building, sales and consulting on project from the beginning to the end product and getting the albums into retail stores."

They also work in a collaborative effort with U.S. government programs.

"We have even done work for the national IHS electronic record program and currently do Web building, graphic design and layout for the Native American Cardiology Program."

One special aspect Yaiva said that is close to his heart is working with the Native youth across Native America.

"We also do a lot of work with the youth such as peer mentoring and talks at reservation schools about the dangers of drugs, gangs, breaking negative stereotypes and being proud of your tradition and Native heritage."

Currently, 4th World Entertainment has one of the dependent albums in Arizona.

"Straight Heat" and their second album, "Limited Edition" has been nominated for a Native American Music Award for Song of the Year, he said. Other impressive recordings include album of the year "Down 4 A Struggle" which is an ode to Native women.

Yaiva said his company has a long list of successful concerts and promotions.

They held a big event this past November that featured Casper, Radmilla Cody, Blackfire and JayNez.

Other places around Native America have enjoyed their productions too.

Places like Shonto, Tuba City and down in Apache country, in Whiteriver, are some of the communities that enjoyed productions by 4th World Entertainment.

With the music industry bringing in billions of dollars in gross revenue each year, Yaiva is making his mark and is setting the course to get a piece of the action and monetary gains.

He also wants to do some good for the Native peoples too.

Yaiva said if anyone has questions or need information about their current promotions or projects, to call: (928) 699-9601 or atyaiva@4went.com, or www.myspace.com
